“This is my second semester taking an English as a second language (ESL) class at Oxnard Union High School District. I really appreciate my beginning level ESL teacher, Mrs. Mendoza. I have been living in the United States for a couple years and previously lived in Mexico. I suddenly found myself, not only culture shocked, but unable to communicate on a basic level. Mrs. Mendoza's tailored level 1 ESL class has allowed me to know the English alphabet, high frequency words, basic grammar, and basic interpersonal communication skills. Her daily lessons consist of reading, writing, listening, and speaking."
